Worthlessness. This is the conviction that the individual tries combat, by unconsciously performing absurd habits, that hides that fact, for both significant others and themselves that one feels worthless. Better to be crazy, than worthless. It is the emotion -- shame, the feeling that one did not do something, an error of omission, that must be avoided. So action is for distraction.
