FAQs about PersonalityZone 

PersonalityZone is a free website designed to help people make use of (and have fun with) the information they have learned about themselves and others through the use of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter-II (KTS-II). It was started by the team at Keirsey.com, which has been providing the KTS-II on line for about the last 12 years. During this time more than 15 million people have completed the KTS-II online at Keirsey.com and its professional-use site AdvisorTeam.com. As more and more people have taken the KTS-II, we have received increasing requests to provide a way for people to make use of the knowledge they have gained – to meet other people like themselves, learn more about their own and others’ personalities, and to get advice in the many areas where personality is a significant factor in our enjoyment and success including relationships, school, work, finance, and entertainment. We thought this was a great idea, so we launched PersonalityZone!

When was PersonalityZone launched?

Actually, the official launch of PersonalityZone is December 10, 2007 - so if you are here in the week prior, welcome! You are a Charter Member!

How do I join PersonalityZone?

The only requirement to joining PersonalityZone is completing the KTS-II so that you know your own personality type. To do this, just go to www.personalityzone.com and click on "Take the KTS-II". Once you complete the personality sorter and receive your free Keirsey Temperament report, you will be able to register as a member.

Is PersonalityZone free?

Yes. PersonalityZone is advertiser-supported. This allows us to provide the KTS-II and your Temperament Discovery report free-of-charge. 

What can I do in PersonalityZone?

The first thing you do in PersonalityZone is learn your full 4-letter Keirsey Temperament type. Are you a Guardian Provider, or perhaps and Artisan Performer. Or maybe an Idealist Champion, or a Rational Mastermind. 

Then, you can use this information to find other members similar (or different) to you; discover advice specific to your personality type from our experts on relationships, work, money, and school; join in and create special interest groups and forums; find movies that will appeal to both you and/or your date; find out what kind of gift your sweetheart will really appreciate for Christmas or Valentines Day; the possibilities go on and on… 

How do I invite my friends to join PersonalityZone?

Its easy! From your profile page, click on invite, and enter your friends’ names and email addresses in the form. Your friends will receive an email with a link to take the KTS-II and join PersonalityZone. 

How do I invite another member to by my friend?

Use the Search feature to find other members you would like to make your friend, and on their profile page, clock on “Add to Friends”. This will send an invitation to them. Once they approve you as a friend, each of you will appear in the other’s Friends list. 

How do I send a message to another member?

You may send a message to anyone who is part of your Friends list. Click on Messages from your profile page. 

How do I report a technical problem or issue on the site?

Send a message to your friend “TechSupport” through your profile page. Tech is automatically your friend when you join PersonalityZone. 

What is a Shout?

Shouts are instant messages you can put on any PersonalityZone member’s profile page. You do this by visiting their profile page and entering a shout in the space at the bottom of the page. 

How do I change my profile image?

You can make any image in your gallery your profile image by clicking on the link “Make profile picture” directly under the image. You may also use a new image – at the time you upload the image to your gallery, select “Yes” next to “Set as profile picture” on the upload menu. 

How do I add photos and images to my Gallery?

Click on “Upload Image” in the Gallery section of your profile page. You will be able to browse files on your local computer to select images to upload. Note- the title field on the image menu is required.

How do I change the privacy settings on my profile information?

You have control over what information other people can see in your profile. You can make your information visible to any member, just your friends, or visible only to yourself. To change your privacy settings, click on “Edit profile” from your profile page, then click on the “Privacy settings link at the upper left of the profile edit page. 

What are Forums?

Forums are areas where you can start topical discussions. The discussion takes place over time – unlike a chat room, you can post a response or followup at any time. Responses and follow on comments are “threaded” – that is, it is easy to follow conversations: who is responding to whom, etc. 

What are Groups?

Groups allow members to create special interest areas within PersonalityZone. Groups may be open or moderated – you can create a general interest group and invite all PersonalityZone members with an interest to join, or create a moderated group that is open only by invitation – for example, open only to members of your sorority or work team. Groups have their own profile page, so members can upload pictures to the Group’s Gallery, post to the Group’s blog, etc. 

Who can join Groups?

Groups can be open to all PersonalityZone members, in which case you can join just by… Other groups are moderated by their creators, and membership is open by invitation, and your membership must be approved by the Group moderator. 

Can I start my own Forum?

Currently, forums are created by the System Administrator. If you would like to start a new Forum, send a message to TechSupport, who is your automatic friend. 

How can I create a Group?

Go to the Groups list by clicking on “Groups” in the menu line at the top of the page. Then click on “Create a group”. You can make your group visible so that others can find it or invisible so that only people you invite will know about it. You can make membership open to anyone, only to your friends, by invitation only, or moderated, which means anyone can apply to join, but must be approved by you. 

How do I post a blog?

Just click on “Post blog” in the Blog area of your profile page. Add tags to your blog entry to make it easier for people to find your entry. The blog WYSIWYG editor tool allows you to add pictures and hyperlinks to your entry, so dress up your articles ad invite your friends to read them. You may edit your own blog entries at any time – there will be a link at the bottom of your article that is only available to you as the author. 

Who can post a blog?

You must be logged in to PersonalityZone, as only members may post. Just add your comment in the box at the bottom of the page. Once you click on enter, your comments are permanent – there is no way to edit or delete them, so if you have written something you may regret later, you might want to count to 10 before clicking the “Post” button. 

How do I see all my Friends in my Profile?

Click on Friends in the menu bar on the left side of your profile page. 

How do I ask a question of the experts in the LoveZone, CollegeZone, WorkZone, or MoneyZone?

Post a topic to the questions forum for the respective PersonalityZone. Dr. Lovegood and the other experts regularly read these forums. 

Why do I have to confirm my email address to join PersonalityZone?

For security purposes, PersonalityZone passwords are encrypted in our database. Should you forget your password, we will email a link to your email address that enables you to reset your password. This method keeps anyone else from pretending to be you and resetting your password online.

How do I report abusive behavior or offensive content?

You may flag content you feel is inappropriate or offensive by clicking on the “flag” link at the bottom of any blog or article. Any content that is flagged by multiple members is reviewed by the System Administrator. Inappropriate content may be removed by the System Administrator, or the author may be asked to edit or remove it themselves. If you feel another PersonalityZone member is behaving in an abusive manner toward you, please send a message to “Tech Support”. All such messages will be addressed in a timely and confidential manner. 

What is the difference between "Bookmark", "Flag it", and Add to Favorites"?

"Bookmark" is a link that allows you post the content to many of the external link-sharing services such as Digg, deli.icio.us, reddit, etc. "Flag it" alerts the PersonalityZone administrator that you find the content offensive. "Add to Favorites" places a link to the content in the Favorites section of your profile page, so that you can come back to it easily even after it is no longer linked from the home page or a Zone page.

When I go to someone else's profile page, what do the items on the left side under "Them" and under "You" mean?

The items under "Them" are actions you can perform relative to the person who's profile you are visiting. For example, clicking on "Add to Friends" will send a Friend invitation to this person from you. The items under "You" are actions you can perform affecting you – they are also available directly from your own profile page.

How do I embed a video in my profile page?

In the Video module at the bottom of your profile page you may add embedded videos from any of the popular video serving site, such as YouTube. Important note: cut and paste the URL of the page of the video you wish to embed, NOT the "embed script". You can also browse all the videos other members have embedded in their profiles, and add them to your own.

How do I access my temperament reports in PersonalityZone?

Your free Basic Temperament report is available to you immediately after completing the Keirsey Temperament Sorter-II (KTS-II).   If you choose to join PersonalityZone, your enhanced Temperament Discovery report is unlocked and available as soon as you confirm your email address (via the email we send you) and complete the signup process.

If you want to access your reports at a later time, you may do so by choosing “View My Reports” in the “Take the KTS-II” pull-down menu in the menu bar directly beneath the PersonalityZone logo.

What additional Keirsey Temperament reports are available through PersonalityZone?
