I’ve noticed that people of the same type differ from each other, which is not big surprise since we are all individuals. But I believe I also see differences based on gender. In other words, females of a particular type are more likely to share certain characteristics than males and females of that type.
I see this most clearly in Guardians. Guardian males are more likely to take charge and be leaders than females of the same type. Guardian females are more likely to be submissive or behind-the-scenes workers than Guardian males. This makes sense to me since Guardians are the most conventional of temperaments. Most cultures have been male dominated throughout history. I’ve known only one or two Guardian women who forget important occasions while I have known some men who forget.
In general, Rational men seem to have fewer social skills as a group than Rational women. While Rationals of both genders can and do run roughshod over others in their quest for perfection, female Rationals seem to have a somewhat better sense of how to keep people on their side. Perhaps this is because society is much harder on women who lack a softer side than it is on men. Society views men who are hard driving and ruthless as ambitious go-getters. Women who behave the same way are usually known simply as bitches. I don’t like Hillary Clinton because I find her too hard. I probably wouldn’t feel the same way about a man of her same temperament. It’s an instinctive reaction which does not seem to have a basis in logic.
Generally as I get to know people, I see some men as having a soft aura around them. That aura indicates that they are feelers. I see some women as having light armor which suggests that they prefer thinking. I perceive thinking and feeling in women as hard v soft edges. However, the feeling men I’ve known usually have a hard edge as well as the soft aura. I figure that’s because men are socialized to have a thinking aspect to them even if they prefer feeling.
Overall, the gender differences I see are centered in the thinking/feeling preferences. I wonder if it would be different in other cultures. Do you see these differences? Or do you see something else? Or do men and women seem pretty interchangeable in terms of type theory?

My mother is a Guardian Inspector (ISTJ). She shows very little emotion both publicly and privately. However, she shows more than my father who is also an Inspector. ............................... Rational Fieldmarshals of both sexes have a strong sentimental streak, but, to me, it seems to be stronger in the women. |

My father is an ISTJ and he show little emotion one way or another. On the other hand my older brother is also an ISTJ and he happens to be a rather intune with his feelings than my father. The difference between the two could be generational. As I would suspect is true with you parents, especially your father. |

You're right that the generational issue makes a big difference. |

I agree with your line of thinking. Although it could be bad perception on our part. I have a sister who has a thinking preference (ISTJ i think). Growing up I always saw how tough-minded she could be. On the other hand she is very private, and with those close to her she reveals a side of her which is far more emotional than she would ever let on in public. Of course that has much to do with her feeling preference, but there is a strong feminine quality that she would'nt even admit. That to me is the most interesting part, because it could mean that malefemale biological traits are still infused in us no matter what our type is. In other words women we still feel in the way women do, and men will think in the way men think, at a basic level.
