Favorite movies starring Rationals

So, what are your favorite movies starring rationals as the main characters? I think I gotta go with...
1. A Beautiful Mind - Russel Crowe played John Nash's character beautifully! John Nash was the stereotypical Rational, either the INTP or INTJ (my guess is the latter). I can't believe Russel didn't win best actor for this role. I love Denzel Washington, but his winning the best actor award for his role in Training Day over Russel Crowe was a travesty!!
2. 12 Angry Men - This movie has no car chases, no explosions, no fight scenes, no special effects, etc. and yet it kept me on the edge of my seat. Henry Fonda's character clearly was a Rational, deftly unfolding the possibility that the man on trial was not guilty to 11 other men ready to send the defendant to sure death. If you haven't seen this one, you must!!
3. Contact - Great film wrapped around the science vs. religion theme. Jodie Foster plays the Rational Dr. Ellie Arroway, and does so brilliantly.

You know, I don't know about a spedific Rational character per se, but the movie "Apollo 13" is the quintessential Rational movie, and I LOVE that one!! Engineers and technicians working together to solve NASA's biggest problem to that date - keeping American astronauts from dying in space. |

Good movies! Have you read Contact? It is way more complex, with 7 travellers and more subplots than you can count. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just reading the question, I was going to say Silence of the Lambs, another Jodie Foster film. I'd say Hanibal, Starling, and the FBI supervisor were all Rationals, but I'm not certain. |
