Anyways, I'm curious about what you believe your "2nd type" is, and why?

In Please Understand Me, Keirsey states that ENTPs can look like ESTPs or ENFPs but if you talk to them for any length of time it is clear that they are Rationals and the similarities are superficial at best. Although...I believe I read somewhere that ENTPs are the least rational of the Rationals. Keirsey also takes the position that E/I are the least important aspects of type as they are often situational. ENTP and INTP are very, very close in temperament. I know...because I'm married to an INTP. To answer your question "what you believe your 2nd type is, and why?", I don't think we have a 2nd type, we just spend time behaving like them once in awhile...or when we need to. |

The first time I took the sorter I came out 50/50 on I/E an T/F, but when I read the profile descriptions I am definitely an INTP. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can be very social: I was an organizer of people in college, getting us off campus and doing stuff other than study. When in a club, I am always reaching out to new people. I strike up conversations in neutral territory, like buses or store lines. I find it very easy to invite others in but am very timid about inviting myself into other groups. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But the real dividing line with E/I, for me anyway, is territoriality and the need for alone time. While I am very friendly and even open about discussing personal issues, I simply must have my space and my time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think my introversion has made me a very sensitive person and that that quality has made the T/F characteristic harder to distinguish. But there is no doubting I am a Rational. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, does any of that help you sort yourself? One book I read said that we spend our lives learning to stretch ourselves out of our base type. That doesn't mean that we necessarily change type but that we become more adept at using our secondary skills. |

Great question! I took the sorter once years ago and the result was INFP which in some ways seemed to fit at the time. This time I tested ISFP, again most things seem to fit once I let the thought soak for awhile.
